Party Theme/Idea: Birthday dinner for girls who love art. Have dinner at home, and then gallery hop the first Saturday of the month. Celebrate the girls with January birthdays and their friends.

Favorite Recipe: Broccoli Salad with Walnuts by Dookie Chase

Ingredients:
2 bunches broccoli
Boiling water
1 large red onion, thinly sliced
½ cup walnuts, chopped
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

Preparation:
Cut broccoli florets from stems. Boil florets in water for 5 minutes. Remove and drain.  Let cool. Toss onions with broccoli. Add walnuts, mayo, mustard and vinegar. Toss well. Let chill. Serves 6.

Favorite Flower: Dahlia

How-to Idea: Shoes with flowers in them and centerpiece cake with flowers

– Take a supple plastic party cup and trim it so it is low enough to fit inside the selected shoe and not be visible.
– Add water soaked oasis to the cup and arrange the flower.
– Place the container inside the shoe. Make sure your arrangement drapes over the edges a bit to hide the cup. 

– To decorate the cake, cut the flowers so the stems are 2 inches long.
– Insert the flowers into and already iced bundt cake with a hollow center. Remove flowers before serving.
